Welcome to my Field Journal…

Here you’ll find some of my projects, presentations, and notes from my adventures out and about “in the field” near and far. A glimpse into my geoscience story, one entry at a time.

Couldn’t make it to Bruin Day so we created our own 🐻 Thanks to @elandrusenki for giving us the VIP tour of campus 🖤 Can’t wait for fall semester this year!
Go Bruins 💙💛

Someone I love and don’t typically spend a lot of time in nature with AND we almost always forget to snap pictures cause we’re living in the moment when together, is my bestie @ticabonita28 - I’m so glad we’re working on changing that this year and I cannot wait to show you all the amazing places I love 🫶🏼

Just now catching up with everything after spending the weekend in Turlock, CA at the @cgs_geography conference 🗺️
Had a great time with my @pcc_geography pals, got a chance to present my new and improved poster, engaged with some truly amazing people doing interesting research, and reconnected with some familiar faces from the APCG Conference.
Still processing everything, but I am beyond grateful to have received a travel grant, the David Lantis Scholarship, and first place for my poster. So honored to be part of such an inspiring community and feeling very thankful and motivated for what’s ahead!
Huge shoutout to PCC Geography faculty for all of the support in getting us there, all of the student volunteers and faculty at CSU Stanislaus (also thank you for hosting us), the students and faculty at @csufgeography.environment and UCSB for taking the time to chat and hang out with us, Bill Bowen for always supporting students and ensuring we have a seat/plate at the banquet, all of the members and organizers at CGS, and @elandrusenki for always being my side quest buddy.

Petrified Forest & Painted Desert - it’s wild to think that this area was a river delta millions of years ago, even crazier to see how these trees are now rocks. Pretty cool place. Bonus pictures of @ethan__is__hungry with his infamous peanut butter delight sandwich, and myself with @art_magik (two former Dana Club Presidents).

Made it all the way up to Cathedral Rock just in time for sunset. Managed to snap these photos before my phone died AND made it back down before it got too dark 😅 short but steep hike with a fun sandstone crack to shimmy up and back down. @christophcoomb and I marveled at all the people with the wrong type of footwear trying to make it up - the struggle was REAL for them 😂

Had a quick weekend trip to Death Valley last month helping out @the_billyjack with his research cohort. Of all the times I’ve gone previously, I had never hiked Mosaic Canyon - glad I got to catch a glimpse of it this trip! So many cool contacts, folds, foliation, and plenty -o-breccia.

When things feel overwhelming, I tend to go spend time in nature to gain a better perspective. A holiday weekend after the big election seemed like the perfect opportunity to escape to the Grand Canyon, so we did. Blake had never been, and it was also Indy’s 11th bday, so I took them to my favorite spot (IYKYK). It was 22 degrees with a bit of snow off the trail, and totally worth the morning view.

I share smaller, more frequent updates on my Instagram page called @you.rock.rock - here you can follow my adventures out in the field, near and far; for school and for fun.
