From PCC to What's Next: Gratitude, Growth, and New Beginnings
Last week, I walked across the stage at Pasadena City College, officially closing a chapter that’s been years in the making.
Given everything happening in our city and across the country right now, the graduation ceremony felt especially meaningful. Standing shoulder to shoulder with fellow students, staff, and faculty, celebrating each other, showing up with pride, strength, and resilience: a reminder of what community really looks like.
This journey has been anything but short or simple. It’s included detours, pauses, and pivots, but it’s also been full of growth, discovery, and purpose. I’m incredibly grateful to every professor, administrator, classmate, tutee, friend, and family member who’s been part of this experience. You’ve helped shape not only my education, but also the person I’ve become.
PCC gave me so much more than units and credits. It gave me opportunities I never imagined, from fieldwork and research presentations to community building and leadership. It gave me lessons that will stick with me far beyond the classroom, and it reminded me that it’s never too late to pursue what lights you up.
It’s a bittersweet goodbye, but this experience was always meant to launch me into something bigger. I’m proud to have been a Lancer, and now I’m preparing to begin my summer internship and transfer to UCLA this fall, ready for whatever comes next.
Here’s to the next chapter!
